Detroit Lions sign David Montgomery to a 3 year Deal

David Montgomery signs with Detroit Lions

The Detroit Lions have made a big move by signing former NFC North rival running back, David Montgomery from the Chicago Bears. The Lions have reportedly agreed to a three-year, $18 million contract with Montgomery, who had an impressive 2022 season with 801 rushing yards and 4 touchdowns.

Montgomery, who has only rushed for 1000 yards once in his first four seasons, is expected to thrive in Detroit's much-improved offensive line. As a power back, he fits perfectly into the identity of the Lions' coach, Dan Campbell. Additionally, he will complement the team's current running back, D'Andre Swift, very well.

This signing is definitely a positive move for the Lions. With Montgomery being a young and talented player, he has the potential to become the starting running back and go-to player for goal-line situations. Meanwhile, Swift can be utilized as a third-down back to relieve Montgomery from carrying the ball too often.

Overall, the Lions have made a strong addition to their team with the signing of Montgomery. Fans can expect him to make an impact on the field and contribute to the team's success in the upcoming seasons.
